AGENCY/ORGANIZATION NEWS

Sections for items of interest to members from agencies and organizations with activities relating to Minnesota archaeology.  These could include:  MHS/SHPO, MHS/Collections, OSA, MIAC.MnDOT, MNDNR (several functions), IMA, UMN, others?

Obviously not all would have something for each issue.  How about some of you putting together a contribution for the next issue, or encouraging someone to do so.

MEMBERS NEWS (OR NON-MEMBERS WHO COULD BE)

Have you changes employment/affiliation?  Moved? Gotten a new degree?  Award? Or whatever?  Or know someone who has?  We need to keep up on the WHO in Minnesota archaeology.

SPECIAL ONCE-A-YEAR SECTIONS

Following are a couple of ideas to keep members informed.  Some of these may be available elsewhere, but getting the information out in the newsletter would be easier for most of us.

New Sites  A once a year listing of new sites that have been added (with maybe a few word listing of their context, etc.)

New Reports  A listing of substantial reports (defined as those beyond Phase I surveys) with a one or two sentence summary.  (If I could get SHPO to send me copies of title pages and abstracts/management summaries I could put this together)

CALENDAR OF EVENTS

We have usually had this to some extant.  Just send me the info and I will put it together.

OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST TO THE PROFESSION

Worked on an interesting site?  Had some thought provoking ideas?  Something else worth sharing?  Or asking?  Send it in and spread it around.  We need some "meat and potatoes" for the newsletter.

The purpose of the newsletter is to communicate among the membership.  With folks spread around and busy, not enough of this is being done.  Share what you have and get what others have to share.
